15 Bible Verses for Easter

Easter isn't a metaphor. It's the morning a tomb opened and history split. These verses tell the story — the cross that paid for everything, the resurrection that changed everything, and the hope that comes home to anyone who trusts Him.

  1. 1.

    Matthew 28:5–6

"The angel answered the women, "Don't be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus, who has been crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, just like he said.""

The first Easter sermon, preached by an angel to women. He is not here — those four words rewrote everything.

  2. 2.

    1 Corinthians 15:3–4

"Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures."

Paul's one-sentence gospel. The whole faith stands or falls on these facts.

  3. 3.

    John 11:25

"Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies.""

Jesus didn't say He brings resurrection. He said He IS it. Easter is a Person.

  4. 4.

    Romans 6:4

"We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life."

Easter wasn't just His story. It's yours too — buried with Him, raised with Him, walking new.

  5. 5.

    1 Peter 1:3

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy became our father again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead."

Living hope, not vague hope. Easter is what makes hope alive.

  6. 6.

    John 3:16

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life."

Why Easter? Because love sent a Son to die and rise — for whoever believes.

  7. 7.

    Romans 10:9

"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

Belief in the resurrection is what saves. Easter isn't optional theology — it's the doorway.

  8. 8.

    Isaiah 53:5

"He was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him; and by his wounds we are healed."

Isaiah saw the cross 700 years out. Your peace was paid for in His pain.

  9. 9.

    1 Corinthians 15:55–57

"Death, where is your sting? Hades, where is your victory?… But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!"

Paul mocks death because Jesus disarmed it. Easter is the day death lost its teeth.

  10. 10.

    Matthew 27:50–51

"Jesus cried again with a loud voice, and yielded up his spirit. Behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom…"

From the top down — God did the tearing. Access to Him opened the moment Jesus died.

  11. 11.

    Luke 24:6–7

"He isn't here, but is risen. Remember what he told you when he was still in Galilee, saying that the Son of Man must be delivered up into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and the third day rise again."

He told them ahead of time. The resurrection wasn't Plan B — it was always Plan A.

  12. 12.

    John 20:29

"Jesus said to him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen, and have believed.""

That's us. We didn't see — we believe. Jesus called that blessed.

  13. 13.

    Philippians 3:10

"That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed to his death."

Paul's goal wasn't just to be saved by the resurrection — it was to live in its power.

  14. 14.

    Acts 2:24

"God raised him up, having freed him from the agony of death, because it was not possible that he should be held by it."

Death tried to hold Him. It couldn't. It can't hold you either, if you're His.

  15. 15.

    Revelation 1:18

"I am the Living One. I was dead, and behold, I am alive forever and ever. I have the keys of Death and of Hades."

He owns the keys to the grave. The same Jesus who walked out of the tomb is the one holding your future.
