15 Bible Verses for Peace

Peace is one of the things people search for most and find least. Scripture treats peace not as the absence of trouble but as the presence of a Person — the Prince of Peace Himself.    John 14:27

   "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid."

   Jesus distinguishes His peace from the world's. The world's peace depends on circumstance; His doesn't move when the circumstance does.

   Philippians 4:6–7

   "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

   Peace here is a guard, not a feeling. It posts itself around your heart and mind when you trade worry for prayer.

   Isaiah 26:3

   "You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you."

   Perfect peace has a hinge: a mind fixed on God. Drift the focus and the peace drifts with it. Anchor the focus and it returns.

   "In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety."

   Sleep is an act of trust. David could close his eyes because Someone else was awake.

   "Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ."

   Before peace is something you feel, it's a relationship you have. The biggest war — between you and God — is already over.

   "And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful."

   Peace is meant to be the umpire in your decisions and reactions. Let it call the plays.

   "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

   Jesus isn't just a giver of peace — He's its Prince. Peace flows from a Person, not a practice.

   "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope."

   Joy and peace are filled in by God Himself. Your part is believing; His part is filling.

   Strength and peace, side by side. He doesn't give one without the other.

    All times. All ways. There's no situation His peace can't reach into.

    "The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace."

    The oldest blessing in Scripture ends with peace — God turning His face toward you. That's where peace lives.

    "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness."

    Peace grows. It's fruit, not fabrication. The Spirit produces it as you walk with Him.
