15 Bible Verses for Healing
Healing in Scripture isn't a side topic. It's something God calls Himself by name — the One who heals. The verses below speak across the whole landscape of healing: the body, the broken heart, the wound that hasn't closed, the diagnosis that won't move. Read slowly. Pick one. Pray it back to Him.
- 1.
Exodus 15:26
"I am Yahweh who heals you."
At Marah, God reveals Himself as Healer of His covenant people — the same God we bring our wounds to today, trusting His timing and His will.
- 2.
Psalm 103:2–3
"Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don't forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases."
Forgiveness and healing sit side by side. Both are benefits of the same God; neither is a stretch for Him.
- 3.
Jeremiah 30:17
"For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh."
He says both — restore and heal. The wound and what the wound took from you. He doesn't only patch; He gives back.
- 4.
Isaiah 53:5
"He was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him; and by his wounds we are healed."
Healing has a cost, and it was already paid. His wounds, your wholeness — that's the exchange at the center of the gospel.
- 5.
Psalm 147:3
"He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds."
He's specific about what He heals: the heart that's broken. He doesn't just notice the wound. He bandages it.
- 6.
James 5:14–15
"Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him… The prayer of faith will heal him who is sick."
Healing is meant to be prayed for in community. Don't carry sickness alone — bring it into the room of people who will lift it to Him.
- 7.
Matthew 4:23
"Jesus went about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the Good News of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people."
Jesus' healings authenticated who He was — the promised King breaking in. We bring our sickness to that same Jesus, trusting Him to heal now if He wills, and fully at the resurrection.
- 8.
1 Peter 2:24
"He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. You were healed by his wounds."
In context, Peter is naming the deepest healing — from sin. The cross's accomplishment is already in the bank. Bodily healing in this life is in His hand; full and final healing is guaranteed in the resurrection.
- 9.
Jeremiah 17:14
"Heal me, O Yahweh, and I will be healed. Save me, and I will be saved; for you are my praise."
Jeremiah's prayer is short and bold. No qualifications. Pray it back when you can't find your own words.
- 10.
Psalm 30:2
"Yahweh my God, I cried to you, and you have healed me."
David's testimony is a pattern: cry out, He hears, healing follows. The crying out is your part.
- 11.
Proverbs 17:22
"A cheerful heart makes good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones."
Scripture treats the heart and the body as connected. What lives inside you reaches into your bones either way.
- 12.
Psalm 41:3
"Yahweh will sustain him on his sickbed, and restore him from his bed of illness."
He shows up on sickbeds. The place where you feel most weak is exactly where He's nearest.
- 13.
Isaiah 41:10
"Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness."
Sometimes healing comes through strengthening — not the sickness lifting yet, but the strength to keep walking through it.
- 14.
3 John 1:2
"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers."
John's personal greeting to Gaius — a friend's prayer that outward health would keep pace with a thriving soul. A warm wish to echo, not a guarantee to claim.
- 15.
Revelation 21:4
"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain any more. The first things have passed away."
The final word over every sickness is here. Healing in this life is real, but the complete one is coming — and nothing crosses into that day with you.
